The Marie hat shown here is a 15" low crowned straw called a Bergère. Popular from the mid 1700's to early 1800's, it was representative of the simpler styles and fashions that were coming into vogue, beginning with Marie Antoinette's famous Shepherdess experiment. A version of it can seen in this self portrait of artist Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun from1782. "Marie" comes complete with custom made, matching hatpin! This hat is also available plain if you would like to try trimming it yourself.
This hat trimmed in your choice of colors. Choose flower and ribbon color. Bias trim will be added to match ribbon color, if chosen. Flower style will depend on colors chosen. I have included some sample ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
